Importance of Occupational Safety Shoes

Crushes due to falling materials, perforation caused by sharp objects, penetration of nails, slips and burns generated by the splashing of molten metals have always been a danger to the feet.

Steel toe shoes are used as foot protection in the workplace. Attention should be paid to the ergonomics of the shoes worn.

Steel toe occupational shoes should be worn in workplaces where heavy objects are lifted or transported.

Foot and leg injuries (accidents) are common in many lines of work. Feet, due to their nature, are among the organs with the highest probability of injury resulting from an accident. Safety shoes prevent accidents that could cause disability with little expense compared to similar non-protective shoes.

Occupational shoes are designed to protect the feet and toes against risks in industrial environments where there is a possibility of objects falling on or hitting the feet.

If there is a possibility of injury to the toes due to impact or hit, the steel camber gains significance.

The steel camber must be of appropriate thickness and lightness to be comfortable. If the materials pose a particular risk in certain lines of work, it may be suitable to place a metal protector on the safety shoe.

To prevent the risk of slipping, various types of clumps made of rubber or synthetic are used. This is especially important for wet or slippery floors.

The soles of occupational shoes to be worn in places such as construction sites should be reinforced with a metallic material against the risk of penetration of nails and similar objects.

In places where electrical hazards exist, the shoe must be fully stitched or glued to prevent the use of nails.

Metal should not be used in shoes unless it is totally insulated. Where static electricity is generated, the safety shoe must have a rubber sole to transmit electricity.

Explosive material plant workers who are engaged in the cleaning of tanks carrying gasoline or other easily flammable hydrocarbons should wear non-sparking shoes with no metal nails.

It is not suitable for workers to use their daily shoes in their workplaces. Some female and male workers prefer to wear extremely worn-out shoes in the workplace. Unfortunately, this causes many occupational accidents.

Falls due to slipping or stumbling are the most common of the accidents. Most of them stem from not wearing suitable shoes. It is especially dangerous for women to wear high-heel shoes in the workplace. Falls may also stem from loose laces or outworn heels and clumps.
