Points to Consider About Occupational Safety Shoes
Points to consider about occupational safety shoes
Each sector or company has different risks depending on the working environment. Occupational safety shoes are manufactured in different options considering these risks. These risks should also be taken into consideration when purchasing occupational safety shoes. Companies must include an occupational safety specialist inside their structure. Purchasing must be made with the recommendation of the occupational safety specialist.
CE Marking: Occupational safety shoes must be CE marked. When purchasing occupational safety shoes, care must be taken to ensure that the information on the CE marking is accurate and complete.
Certificate: Products that are claimed to comply with the SRC slip resistance standard must bear the SRC mark on their certificates. Product certificates must be obtained from EU approved institutions. PFI (Almanya), SATRA (İngiltere), CTC (Fransa), and RICCOTEST (İtalya) are some of these institutions.
The certificate must include all the material properties of the shoe, especially the protective toe. A separate certificate is required for each product group. For this reason, it should be checked whether the name of the model written on the certificate and the name of the model you wish to purchase are exactly the same.
Materials such as the steel toe have separate certificates. Attention should be paid to cases where these certificates are presented as if they were for the product itself.
Certificates of rubber sole shoes that are claimed to be resistant to high temperatures must have an HRO (Heat Resistant Outsole) mark.
Particularly for shoes with antistatic and double density soles, at least the S1 standard should be sought.
Standard - Protection Type: There are standard protection types applied in Europe for occupational safety shoes. (S1, S2, S3, S1P etc.)
The buyer must be informed in detail about these standards and it is necessary to offer a shoe with a standard that suits the working environment. At the time of purchase, the properties of the product should be examined and checked for compliance with the standard on the label. Consideration of these points in the selection of occupational safety shoes minimizes risks while increasing the efficiency of use.
